Obituary for Gary F. Mills

Gary F. Mills of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord and his mom on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at his home.
Born April 18, 1947 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of Junior and the late Dorothy Keiter Mills.
Gary was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1965 and attended Shepherd College. While in Martinsburg, he attended Otterbein United Methodist Church. In his school years he played Little League Baseball, and football and baseball for Martinsburg High School.
He is survived by one son, Colin M. Mills (fiancee Jen, and her children Kaitlyn and Sidney), and former wife, Irene, of South Bend, Indiana. Other survivors are uncle, Boyd Mills (Frances), cousins, Bobby Mills (Paula), and Marsha O'Roke (Chip), aunt, Betty Miller (Leighton), cousins, Matthew Miller (Carolyn), Michael Miller (Tabetha), and Julanne Sausser (Mark), also cousins Betty Ann Keiter-Tabler, and Candi Johnson.
In 1971 Gary went to the Hagerstown, MD Morning Herald as a staff photographer, and later that year transferred to the Herald Mail's corporate headquarters at the South Bend, Indiana Tribune. In 1975 he began a career as a freelance photographer, having his own business for over 25 years.
In 2002 he went to work as a photographer for Culver Military Academies in Culver, Indiana, and retired from there in 2012.
Special thanks go to Bruce and Jade Kayser of South Bend for being such good and caring neighbors to Gary.
Family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, July 29 at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 30 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle or Lions Club Vision Program.
