To say Ruthie will be missed just doesn't seem to cover the feelings that I and the rest of the staff at SCB are feeling right now. For the last 11 years I've been Ruthie's manager, which would lead most to believe that I helped educate and coach her on how to be a banker. Hopefully, I did accomplish that. What I do know for certain is that she has taught me several incredibile life lessons that I will forever be grateful for.
Ruthie taught me the value of looking at the world through "rose colored glasses". Often times we dwell on the the negative and don't spend enough time focusing on the positive. Ruthie's positive outlook towards any obstacle that she faced has uplifted and encouraged hundreds of people who had the priveledge to interact with her.
She taught me the value of slowing down- there is joy in each and everyday if we slow down to look for it. I'm realizing now that some of our little moments will be the most treasured. Who wouldn't miss having pop quizzes on Christmas songs?? :)
For Stacey- Ruthie often reminded me of her favorite meeting that we held at our office. Each employee was to come with something that they admired about another employee. The employee that was to bring something they admired about Ruthie shared that she admired Ruthie's relationship with her daughter, Stacey. They were not just mother and daughter but they were friends. The look on Ruthie's face that day was one I've viewed many times-pride. She beamed with pride whenever she shared stories of "Stacky" as she lovingly nicknamed you. And later she beamed again when her family grew with Bill, Solomon, and Violet.
Your mama blessed so many lives with her kindness and warm smile. I'm praying that you find comfort in your memories of her and in the knowledge of how many other people are missing your wonderful mama and my dear friend Ruthie.
