Melvin L. Brown, Sr., 88, of Martinsburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Heartland of Martinsburg.

Born April 17, 1921 in Martinsburg he was the son of the late Loring T. Brown and Catherine Elizabeth Miller Brown.

He was a former employee with Interwoven Mills and retired from the Martinsburg VA Medical Center as a dietician.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II.

Mr. Brown was an avid bowler and sports fan.

He is survived by two sons, Roger L. Brown and Charles W. Caton both of Martinsburg; daughter-in-law, Tam Brown; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Caton Brown; one son, Melvin L. “Sonny” Brown, Jr.; and one brother, Raymond Brown.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 3:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home with Rev. William C. Crowe officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
