Obituary for Cheryl Melissa Layton (Carter)

Cheryl Melissa Carter Layton, 68, of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Cheryl was born on May 1, 1949 in Martinsburg, WV the daughter of late Harry Carter and Jean Cookus Carter.

Cheryl retired in 2015 from Shepherd University Library. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church as well as Hedges Chapel.

She is survived by one son; Shawn Layton and fiancé, Lisa Shover; one daughter; Aaryn Layton-Hayes; four grandchildren; Brandon Darlington; Justin Darlington; Collin Darlington; Jessica Layton and one great grandchild; Thomas John Darlington.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 4:00PM at Otterbein United Methodist Church, of Martinsburg, with Pastor Mark Mooney officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Martinsburg Berkeley County Library, 101 W. King St., Martinsburg, WV 15401.
