Robert George  Selter
Robert George Selter, 80, of Hedgesville, passed through the portals of life on earth to be with his Lord on November 26, 2016 at the VA Medical Center.

Bob was born May 5 1936 in South Boston, MA; graduating from Charlestown High School, Class of 1954. He served in the Army National Guard and the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and attended local colleges in California, including the University of California for computer sciences.

He is survived by his wife, Sharron Rhoe Burkhart of Hedgesville; sisters, Elaine H. Bumpus of Redmond, WA and Dorothy M. Brown of CT; daughter, Pamela; and sons, Michael and Brett Selter of CA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Charles Selter and Rebecca Scott Selter Marion, and three younger brothers.

He was employed by the Federal Gov't. for 37 years, retiring in 1993.

He was a 50-year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks serving as an officer at many stations. As the organization's Exalted Ruler, he was instrumental in creating a "Law and Safety Day" in the Lodge which is still being observed to date.

He was a 32 degree Master Mason of the Robert White Lodge A.F. & A.M. with affiliations in the Scottish and York Rite, Palestine Commandery Knights Templar, Shenandoah Forest Tall Cedars, Royal Arch Masons, and a member of the Shriner's International.

Most importantly to him, he was a member of the Johnsontown Church of the Brethren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Johnsontown Church of the Brethren in Hedgesville with Pastors Dennis Rhoe and Larry Westcott officiating. Interment with military graveside honors will be held in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Johnsontown Church of the Brethren, PO Box 278, Hedgesville WV 25427.
