Jimmy Oliver  Rickard
Jimmy Oliver Rickard, 82, of Ranson, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Winchester Medical Center. Born March 19, 1934, in Harpers Ferry, he was the son of the late Oliver Aldon Rickard and Izlo Muriel Mauck Rickard. He was the last of his immediate family.
Throughout his life, Jimmy had a strong love of God. He was a member of the Mannings Assembly of God. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and later worked as a night captain for the A&P Store. He was a selfless and very generous man and liked to collect antiques.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Jean Anderson Rickard, at home; two sons: Timothy Rickard, and wife Roxanne, of Middleway, and Eric Rickard, and wife Brenda, of Charles Town; 5 grandchildren: Erica, Amber, Audrey, Cody, and Zachary, and 4 great grandchildren: Sierra, Hannah, Christian, and Isaiah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 4 brothers: Forrest, James, Kenneth, and Elston Rickard, and 6 sisters: Thelma Rickard, Dorothy Mercer, Gladys Dunn, Kathleen Briggs, Willadean Wood, and Geraldine Robinson.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Steve Lewis officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Chapel.
