I worked for Dr. Arnett at the time, and then my daughter Alyson and him were classmates. He always had that wonderful shy little smile and was a kind soul even at such an early age. Condolence: I knew him simply as 'Z', but there was nothing simple about him. Witty, intelligent, funny, gracious these are just a few words I would use to describe him. I never got the chance to personally meet him, but he was a person that will forever stay in my heart and mind. I remember the first time I went to his site. I went to seek out more info on him and his books. I was surprised when he actually spoke with me. And not only spoke with me, but treated me with respect and kindness. His love of the character Doc Holliday made him an instant favorite to me. As this was my all time favorite historical character. When Z met his maker I am sure he said 'I'm your Huckleberry!' Godspeed Z. You will be missed.

Condolence: Z, how you will be missed! Never before have I come across somebody quite like you. The term 'one of a kind' has never before fitted anyone like it fits you. Your humour, your wit, your talent and passion for writing and your warmth for your fans. The little sayings you used to come out with and your tales that made me laugh out loud. RIP Zach. Condolence: Let's always remember Zach Recht. Many of us came to know Zach because he was an author. However, all of us came to LOVE Zach because he was Zach. Zach did a great thing with his gift, in that he brought many people together with his writing. Zach created the bridges for relationships between many people. As long as we walk these bridges, and continue to make them stronger, that is his true legacy. His books are not who he was, but rather one of the tools he used to build these bridges between fans, friends, and family. I'm sorry for your loss, but strive to celebrate the life of your son. Condolence: I have known Zach since 2003. He always teased me for being the quiet one. I will miss his talent, wit, intelligence and his acceptance of everyone. The world is a better place and I am a better person because of Zach. Be Free Z........love you

Condolence: My friend, I can only express how much your life has touched me over the past few years I've been fortunate to know you. Your friendship has meant a great deal to me, and I will miss the encouraging words for my writing and when I was feeling blue. You always were willing to hold my hand when things got tough! I appreciate your wit, your sharp intelligence, and your compassion for your fellow man. You were truly a class all your own! As a fellow member of your board, and many others, I witnessed how many lives you touched, how many times you've reached out to assist others who shared the same dream as yours, to become a published author! You inspired many, and that is a legacy to be proud of! Also knowing you on a more personal level, I saw the caring individual who selflessly stood up in defense of others. Your heart was always bigger than your stature! (Sorry, but it's true!) You never thought of yourself as being "above" anyone else. You truly were one with your people! With ALL people! Condolence: I worked on the Gavel at Handley High School with Zach in 2000/2001. His personality was always great and he was a great help on the Gavel staff, you all are in my thoughts and prayers during this time, and he will be missed.

He was so bright and endearing...very serious, but he would often make me laugh. He could not have had a more supportive family.
