Obituary for Brian Louis "Chief" Tierney

Brian Louis "Chief" Tierney
Brian “Chief” L. Tierney, 74, of Hedgesville, WV passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his residence with wife, Pam.

Born in Bend Oregon, he graduated from Blair High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, then graduated from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

While at Gettysburg, he was a member of the SAE fraternity, a member of the 1966 AP-All Pennsylvania Football Team, the 1964 Middle Atlantic Conference (University Division) Champions and a captain of the 1966 Lambert Cup Football Team.

He started his career in IBM, then went into Banking, where he retired in 2002, from Bank of America, as Senior Vice President of an East Coast Operations Division.

He raised three children with their mother, Gail, all of Maryland; a son, Sean Tierney; a daughter, Tiffany and husband, Dave and their children, Braden, Addie, Campbell, and Dane; and a daughter, Shannon and husband, Bill and their children, Isaac, Avery, and Eve.

He lived in Maryland, until his marriage to Pam in 2010, when he then moved to West Virginia. Brian stayed active, where he and Pam loved being outside, whether enjoying nature, maintaining their yard, or frequent road trips.

Brian loved the Lord and his family. He spent many days traveling to Delaware and Maryland to visit and support his grandchildren, rooting for them from their teams sidelines, hosting overnight trips to “grampy’s”, attending dance recitals, and school events.

When Pam’s grandchildren (Christopher, Bradlee, Sean, James, and Charlotte) often visited from New York, where they lived with Pam’s son, Eli and mother Jenn, Brian always kept them excitedly active, including trips to the lake, and roaming the woods.

He leaves his sister, Leslie Morrill and husband Barry, along with their family in South Carolina; aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Per Brian’s request, he has donated himself for science purposes.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, August 25, in Annapolis, Maryland.
