Hazel Blanche  Lewis (Frye)
Hazel Blanche Frye Lewis, 98, of Pikeside, gained her wings Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at her home. She was under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle and her two loving caregivers.

Born February 18, 1920, in Shanghai, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Gold Frye and Naomi Blanche Frye Voorhees.

Hazel was a strong woman of conviction and faith. She received her high school diploma at the age of 55. She served as local Councilor and WV State Councilor of Daughters of America, Jr. O.U.A.M. for many years.

She was a life-time member and the oldest member of Pikeside United Methodist Church for 82 years. She served her Lord as Sunday School teacher for the 2 and 3 year old children, who lovingly called her Missa Hazel, for 35 years. She also served in the capacity of Secretary-Treasurer for many years.

She was a homemaker and loving wife of Lee Roy Lewis for 61 years, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard L. Lewis and the following siblings: Mildred Frye Albright, Harry Kenneth Frye, Durward Gold Frye, James O. Frye, Malcom Bruce Frye, Richard Ensign Frye; and one granddaughter, Shannon Renee Lewis.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Wilton Lewis and wife, Betty, Melvin Stephen Lewis and wife, Connie; one daughter, Valinda Sue Lewis Shawyer and husband, Jeff. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00AM at Pikeside United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Ball officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
