Obituary for Robert Milton Ryman

Robert Milton  Ryman
Robert Milton Ryman, 85, of Martinsburg passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.

Born March 4, 1933 in Strasburg, VA he was the son of he late Joseph M. Ryman, Jr. and Verna Mae Elbon Ryman.

Mr. Ryman had been employed with F.B.I. prior to being drafted into the US Army, where he served with the 9th Infantry Division, 61st Tank Battalion as a gunner. He served three months then was transferred to the 1st Infantry Division, 63rd Tank Battalion known as the “Big Red One”. After serving during active duty he joined the Air Force Reserve unit in Martinsburg and then transferred to Air Weather Service at Andrews Air Force Base. He was a member of Post 14 American Legion Martinsburg; Life Member of VFW Post 896 Martinsburg; and Life Member of DAV Post 9, Front Royal, VA.

Robert began his career in 1963 with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers at Mount Weather, VA, where he was later transferred to FEMA, retiring in 1989.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Ann Butler Ryman; one son Jeff Ryman and wife Billie Jo; two grandchildren, Blair Ryman and Carlie Ryman; three brothers, Joseph Lee Ryman, Daniel Curtis Ryman, and Michael Allen Ryman; and three sisters, Jean Marie Bauserman, Patricia Anne Himelright, and Susie Irene Drummond.

Family will receive friends on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Cantley officiating. Military graveside service will be held at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
