John Willard Shultz, 91, passed peacefully into Heaven on April 5, 2018. He was at his earthly home with loved ones and many prayers from family and friends.

John was born November 27, 1926 in Ganotown, WV, to the late Carl Pitkins Shultz and Margery VanHorn Shultz.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 yers Mary Frances Ashton Shultz, son Paul David Shultz and wife Judy, two daughters, Bonnie Lorraine and Wanda Gail Shultz; grandson, John David Shultz and wife Emily and son Dillon Gross; granddaughter Jordan Eve Shultz and great-grandson Ezekiel Zion Shultz; also Grandpap to Olivia Chase and Jadyn Allen. He is survived by one brother, Irvin Shultz and wife Janet, four sisters preceded him in death, Margaret Mason, Ines Bowman Chaney, Alberta Koontz, Lucille Sharff. John will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

John served two years in the Army and was stationed in occupied Japan during World War II. He was a faithful member of Central Chapel Church, Ganotown where he was an active member of the choir and taught Sunday school. He joined Gideons International in 1977 and remained a loyal member until his death. He was part of the Retired Men’s Choirs ministering through music to many nursing homes and non-profits.

He was a graduate of WVU with Masters degree. His first teaching job was agriculture in Williamsburg, WV in 1952. He taught FFA at Martinsburg High School until he moved to the new North Jr. High School where he taught shop until 1987 when he retired from teaching.

He was very caring and close with his family. He was a Godly man who was always giving thanks to his Lord for his blessings. He will be greatly missed.

Family and friends will meet at Brown Funeral Home Saturday, April 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at Central Chapel, Sunday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. Following the service interment will be in Central Chapel Cemetery.
