Raymond Gerald ""Jerry"  "Pappy""  Ripple
Raymond Gerald "Jerry "Pappy" died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 9, 2018.
He was born on January 17,1939 in Martinsburg to the late Walter and Helen Ripple of Martinsburg.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Inwood.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia Lee Brant Ripple; two sons, Jeffrey Ripple and wife Kimberly of Inwood, John Ripple and wife Tammy of Martinsburg; one daughter, Jean Frame and husband Ricky Lee Frame, Sr. of Inwood; six grandchildren, Sara Bryd and husband R.W., Ricky L. Frame and wife Beth, Collin Ripple, Joshua Frame, Justin Ripple, and Raymond Ripple; three great-grandchildren, Everley Byrd, Josephine Frame, and Easton Byrd; one brother Walter H. "Buddy" Ripple of Frisco, TX; one sister Edna Pearl Tims of Norfolk, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; and also his beloved cat Tremper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Ricky Lee Ripple; daughter Jerri Ann Ripple; and lifelong friend and co-worker Harry "Butch" Catrow.
Jerry also leaves behind lifelong friends Charles and Barbara Schmidt of Lewes, DE; as well as 17 sets of golf clubs; 11 golf bags; 14 putters; and 6 burlap sacks full of reclaimed golf balls. Jerry was also a very generous man, having donated thousands of golf balls to the pond of hole 16 at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club where he was a member for over 40 years. Jerry's golfing buddies at Sleepy Hollow and later at Locust Hill were a second family to him and he received great joy in organizing the daily group which played 6 days a week and organizing golf trips to Florence, SC and other points south.
Jerry retired from Catrow Construction. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years as Production Superintendent at Martin Marietta. He was also co-owner of Four Corners Club in Inwood.
Jerry and his wife Jenny often traveled to Disney World and were blessed with the opportunity to do so with all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren this past October.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11:00AM at the South Berkeley Chapel with Pastor Joshua Marsh officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
