The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Daniel Maerten can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

I am heartbroken by the news of Dan's passing. To Dan's family and friends, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I have known him since we were kids, and though I fell out of touch over the years, I always considered him to be one of my greatest friends in my whole life. He was what a true friend should be. He was smart and funny and honest and kind. I admired and looked up to him. I will miss him forever and never forget him.
