Helen J. Brown, 92, passed away on November 14, 2016 at home in Bunker Hill, WV.

Helen was born September 25, 1924 in Kitzmiller, MD, the daughter of the late James and Nellie Lombard Pratt.

After high school, Helen worked in the Vindex Coal Company Store until 1948, when she married Charles H. Brown, who passed away on July 10, 2011.

Charles made a career in the US Air Force, and he and Helen, his best friend and biggest fan, lived in Florida, Maryland, Hawaii, and Michigan during their 30 year career. Following Charles' retirement, they moved to Bunker Hill and enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad.

Helen was a long time member of St. Leo Roman Catholic Church in Inwood, WV and especially enjoyed working with her friends counting the collection. She was a prolific card and letter writer, keeping in touch with family and many friends in and out of the country.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charles, Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Pratt, Millie Jewell, and brother, Thomas Pratt.

Helen is survived by sister-in-law, Joy Ray Brown; nephews, James, George, Robert, David, and Michael Jewell, Robert Brown, Joseph Pratt, and nieces, Mary June King and Francis Nickels.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Leo Catholic Church with Father Alfred Obiudu, celebrant.

Interment prayers will be said at St. Leo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo Catholic Church, Building Fund, PO Box 63, Inwood, WV 25428.
