Obituary for Patsy Ann Fleetwood

Patsy Ann Fleetwood, 65, of Kearneysville, West Virginia, passed away Monday, October 3rd, 2016 at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville Virginia. She was a loving wife of Robert ‘Bobby’ Utterback, partner of nearly 40 years. Born September 29th 1951, she was the daughter of Frances J. Ayres and the late Meredith L. Axline.
In Patsy’s early years, after graduating from Brunswick High school she studied to become a cosmetologist, in 1977 she laid down her scissors and took a job at Potomac Edison/Allegheny Power. In 1984 she became a First-class Lineperson, the first for a woman at Potomac Edison/Allegheny Power. She retired in 2004 she started a new career with Loudon County Public Schools as a special needs bus driver. She loved the kids and enjoyed the camaraderie with other drivers which soon became known as her “Posse.”
Patsy was a lover of many beautiful things in life. She had an extensive collection of exquisite jewelry that was admired by all and truly became her trademark. She was a creative crafter; she loved turning trash to treasures. Patsy was an avid gardener, her and husband, Bobby, spent many hours tending to their beautiful flower-filled yard. When she wasn’t in the yard, her favorite place to spend time was at their beach house, she loved the ocean and spent many weekends there. The door was always open to family and friends. After time at the beach, Sundays were spent in the kitchen baking. She loved trying new cake recipes and shared her success’ with everyone!
Patsy was the caring mother to three daughters; Kendra Bennett, Jama Fleetwood and partner Michael Engle, and Shayna Fleetwood, all in the Charles Town area. She was grandmother to Dakota, Corey, Duane, Scott, August, Kirsten and Kyleigh. She was great grandmother to Cayden, Cameron, Jayden, Bryce and Kamdyn. Pasty was an adoring aunt to Aaron, Kyle, Lauren and Casey.
Pasty is survived by her siblings Judy Axline, Kent Axline (Cindy), Lisa Axline all of Brunswick. She was predeceased by brother Jerry Axline.
She was sister-in-law to Betty and Max Bell, nephews Jimmy, Dino and Tony Carson, the Late Joan and David Tomlin, and nephews Duane and Bobby Lee Barber, Virginia Axline, and very special friend and sister-in-law “Sissy Dear” Cindy Axline.
Niece to the late Charles and Ann Harden, Lois and Late Norman Hostler, Betty and Doug Brackett, Anna and late Howard Fry, the late Sam and Margaret Axline; and many cousins. She was predeceased by both maternal and paternal grandparents.
She will also be remembered by devoted friends Jill Hebb and Lynn Payne Foreman, and many, many more.
Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at the Jefferson Chapel, 114 N. Mildred Street, Ranson, WV 25438. Pastor Edward Hartman will officiate. A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion, Jackson Perks Post 71, 225 Washington Street, Charles Town, WV 25414.
Interment will be private.
