Alexander David Hamill,”Dave,” 71, of Ranson, West Virginia, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at his home Friday, February 5, 2016.

Born January 29, 1945, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late James Robert Hamill and Pearl Suzanne Snider Hamill.

Dave was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

He was a purchasing manager for Federal Mogul Corporation. He served the City of Ranson for over 30 years.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen, at home; son, James David George Hamill, and wife Rachel, of Ranson, West Virginia; 2 daughters: Cynthia Anne Rakic “Cindy,” and husband Mike, of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and Rev. Dr. Melissa Corinne Rudolph, and husband Rev. John, of Hampstead, Maryland; brother, James Robert Hamill, Jr., and wife Bonnie, of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; sister, Diane Joyce Jones, and husband Bobby, of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; mother-in-law, Reba Elaine Wilt, of Ranson, West Virginia, and 9 grandchildren: Nicole, Adam, Annika, Asher, Marley, Lydia, Ernie, Amelia, and Shaw, as well as many nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Hamill; 3 sisters: Evelyn Anderson, Corene Hamill, and Virginia Hamill, brother-in-law, Rupert Anderson and father-in-law, George Melvin Wilt.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town, West Virginia, with the Rev. Duane Jensen officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at the City Hall, Ranson, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dave’s memory be made to the Ranson Elementary School, 600 N. Preston St., Ranson, WV 25438.
