Obituary for Jackie Clifford Harris

Jackie Clifford Harris, 86 of Charles Town passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 in the VA Medical Center. Born February 21, 1929 in Duffields, WV he was the son of the late Fontain Harris and Ruth Devenshire. Jackie served in the U S Army. He was a professional boxer, worked for the New York police department and worked security for Shepherd University.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Virginia Hughes Harris, son, Jerome Shomo of New York, two daughters, Jacqueline Shomo of East Orange, New Jersey and Johnetta Taylor and husband Curtis of Charles Town, grandchildren, Rodney and Rasheen and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters, grandson, Jose Shomo.
Funeral services will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Kingdom Life Cathedral with the Bishop Sterling Porter officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. Arrangements by the Jefferson Chapel.
