Obituary for John Pershing Ott

John Pershing Ott, 97 of Ranson passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in the Jefferson Medical Center. Born July 19, 1918 in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Adam Elmer Ott and Ethel Grace Fritts. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, served in the U S Army from 1941-1945, was a Staff Sergeant during World War II. John worked as a crusher operator for Standard Lime and Stone and was a spot welder for Dixie Narco, Inc. He loved gardening, pitching horseshoes and sitting on his porch swing and singing.
He is survived by one son, Dean M. Ott and wife Donna of Shenandoah Junc., three daughters, Susan R. Hough and husband Charles of Martinsburg, Joyce O. Dofflemyer and husband Thomas of Stephen City, Virginia, Sherry D. Clem and husband James E. of Charles Town, one brother Warren R. Ott and wife Peggy of Orlando, Florida, five grandchildren, John D. Hough, J. Christopher Hough, Sean G. Ott, Misty Dofflemyer and Justin Clem, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Virginia O’Bannon Ott, brothers, Herbert, Elmer, Harry, Lester, Willard and Woodrow Ott, sisters, Mary Henry and Katherine Wagner and one grandson, Michael A. Ott.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Reverend JoAnne Alexander and Reverend Kent Tice officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
