Obituary for Harry Butterfield

Harry Butterfield died peacefully at his home in Martinsburg, on October 30, 2014, at the age of 93.

Harry was born on April 30, 1921 to Harry Charles Butterfield, Sr., and Verna Dewey Butterfield and grew up in Wichita, Kansas.

In his early career, he built several new Kansas radio stations. Harry was particularly proud of his service to his country. During the earliest part of WW II he was an active participant in the Civil Air Patrol along the Texas Coast, and later served in Germany at the end of the war.

He continued his service into a 30 year career as a civilian employee of the U. S. Defense Department, moving to Martinsburg upon his retirement in the late 1970’s.

Harry was never bored, pursuing hobbies that included hunting, fishing, model airplanes, model railroads, astronomy and astrophotography.

Harry will be mourned by his devoted wife, Connie; his daughters, Cheryl Butterfield and Mari Anne Butterfield Birnbaum, and by Connie’s children, Javier Howard and Andrea Summers.

Services and interment will be private.
