One night Roach and I got a snootfull, (you know what I mean!), and we/he decided it would be a good idea to go under 81 and grab some field corn out of a field, that we didn't own or know who the owner was. If you don't know, field corn early is very tasty corn on the cob. So, we park on the side of the road about 10:00 at night and take off into this corn field. (We didn't even have a bag.) We dive into this field, strip off about 20 ears and decide we have enough. As I was dating his daughter I always let him take the lead. So Roach decides to get to the car was one way but it was the other way. I think these two 3/4 drunk guys walked about a mile before we decided we went the wrong way, turned around and eventually got back to the car. We were filthy, cut up by corn stalks and laughing our asses off. It's a wonder the cops didn't pick us up. (They would have let us go in those days.) Needless to say the corn was excellent, the scratches healed and we laughed about it for years, as recently as this year. Roach was a mans man, I miss him already even though I rarely saw him. he was not only my father-in-law, he was my friend and I loved him. Miss you Roach. Tell the big man about the corn field. He already knows but he'll laugh anyway.
My sincerest sympathies to Connie, another loved one and good friend. Be strong, you'll never meet another Roach.
Everybody else knows how sorry I am for this loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers and if you need anything you know Jackie and I will always be here for you.
Love you all,
Mike & Jackie
