Obituary for Gold Samuel Kern, Jr.

Gold Samuel Kern, Jr., 81, of Inwood, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Jefferson Medical Center.
Born March 22, 1933 in Inwood, he was the son of the late Gold Samuel and Eva Darlington Kern.
Gold graduated from Martinsburg High School class of 1951. He attended Shepherd College, joined the Marines in 1952-1956, and was a member of the Marine Band.
Gold was manger of the Unemployment office 1960-1968 and later personnel manager of General Motors from 1968 until retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Inwood United Methodist Church.
Gold is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Swartz Kern; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Haley Kern and Robert and Sheri Kern; granddaughters, Allison and Rebecca Kern.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Ashleigh Kern.
The family would like to thank Jefferson Medical Center for their special care.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00AM at the funeral chapel with Rev. Charles Henry and Pastor Tim Butler officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Inwood United Methodist Church or Berkeley County Humane Society.
