Obituary for Betty Jean Rickard (Martin)

Betty Jean Rickard, 84 of Harpers Ferry, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at her home under the care of Hospice. Born January 4, 1930 in Bakerton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry Howard Martin and Hattie Virginia Mansfield Martin. She was a member of the Millville United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, she had a lot of children she called her Millville and Bakerton kids. She is survived by son, Roger Rickard and wife Karin of Gulf Shores, Alabama, brother, Melvin Martin of Inwood and sister, Mary Fowler of Kearneysville, two grandsons, Zachary and Chris Rickard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Rickard, Sr., son Kenneth Rickard, Jr., brothers, Joe, Charles, Jiggs, Tom and Jim Martin, sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Blanche Writt, Anna Parrell and Ruth Martin. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday April 24, 2014 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Jennifer Duncan Cauley officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
