Obituary for Betty Louise Swartz (Higgins)

Betty Louise Swartz, 82, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Born February 3, 1932 in Douglas, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward Higgins and Ethel (Riggleman) Higgins.

She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church.

She was employed by the Berkeley Co. Commissioner's Office and was also formerly employed by several local banks. She was a member of the Martinsburg Lions Club.

Betty was well known to love to "cook" for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edward "Bud" Luttrell Swartz; step-son, Dennis E. Swartz and wife, Marilyn, of Kearneysville; two daughters, Debra S. Myers and Sherlyn A. Townsend and husband, Darren, all of Martinsburg; six grandchildren, Aimee Peters and husband, Mark, Jason Myers and wife, Sabrina, Erica Herndon and husband, George, Jennifer Tinsman and husband, Matthew, Tavis Roberts and Tyler Flook; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alonzo Higgins and Edward Higgins, Jr., and one sister, Lucy Burns.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Bethel Assembly of God Church on Tavern Rd. with the Rev. Ralph Campbell and the Rev. Arnold Brown officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23rd, at Brown Funeral Home.
