George took a graduate course from me in 1981, as he was contemplating retirement. He was an excellent student who added much to the class with his participation, and out of that class, we became friends. He and Mrs. Potter were gracious hosts, inviting me and my two sons to dinner at their house. I still remember that. George was a good person, decent,friendly, and a nice guy. I valued our friendship.
