Obituary for William Edward DeMoss, Sr.
William Edward DeMoss, 89, peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Born January 5, 1932 in Thornton, WV, he was the son of the late Lawrence H. DeMoss and Hallie Belle Boyles DeMoss.
Bill grew up in Great Cacapon and was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High, class of 1949. He married Jeannine “Ginger” Marston on March 23, 1951. She recently passed away on December 31, 2020, after more than 69 years of marriage. From the days of his youth, Bill was interested in mechanical work. He served four years in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as an electrician on the F-86D Sabrejet. He was employed by the B&O Railroad on October 2, 1950 and retired more than 43 years later from CSX Transportation as a Signal Inspector in 1994. Bill moved to Berkeley County in 1960 and became the neighborhood jack-of-all-trades. No matter what the problem might be, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, or electrical, his neighbors could always count on Bill to help them resolve their difficulties.
He is survived by a son, William DeMoss, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Ridgeley, WV, and a daughter, Susan Sibert and husband, Andrew, of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Marci and husband, Dan Duncan, Bradley DeMoss, Cindy Palmer, Andrew Sibert, Jr., and fiancé, Samantha Shade, Adrian Sibert; great grandchildren, Landon, Waylon, and Gabriel Duncan, Zachary Palmer, and Tia Sibert. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Ramona DeMoss Apple, and Paul Apple.
He is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Leona DeMoss Crosen, and Max Crosen; a sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Zellene Marston Kirk, and Rhea Kirk; and his in-laws, Wilbur, and Eva Bennett Marston.
Service and interment are private.
