Obituary for William Donald "Bill" Carper
William Donald Carper (Bill), 65, of Martinsburg WV, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice.
Bill was born on June 9, 1957 in Charles Town, WV to the late William R. and Sigernia L. (Chaffman) Carper.
Bill graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977. After graduating he served in the US Army for 8 ½ years in Field Artillery, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6), his last 6 years in the Field Artillery Special Weapons Program.
He worked for 16 years at Aker Plastics in Martinsburg, 9 years at SVB Foods in Inwood, and retired after 3 years with Jamotuff in Williamsport, MD in 2019.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda K. Carper, one son Jonathan R. Carper; one daughter, Ashley N. and her husband Larry Schuyler; three sisters, Sigernia L (Cookie) Carper, Susan E. and her husband Randy Bradley, and Debby Mizzles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Alice M. (Carper) Hofeld of OK.
He loved his family, his country, the military, and the American flag. He also enjoyed camping, photography and crafting things that he mostly gave away to friends and family.
A celebration of life Ceremony will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in his honor to either the MDS Foundation or Hospice of the Panhandle.
