Obituary for Stephen M. Ripley, III

Stephen McCullough Ripley, III, 91, of Inwood passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Canterbury.

Born August 19, 1929 in Wheeling, WV he was the son of the late Stephen McCullough Ripley, II and Jessie Hill Ripley.

Steve was a veteran of the US Army having served in Korea.

He had been a teacher at Musselman High School where he coached the Musselman Basketball and Football teams for 14 years. He then went to Martinsburg High School as Assistant Principal and assistant coach with the football team. He later coached basketball at North Middle School.

He also attended Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church.

Steve was a member of the Triluminar Lodge #117. He loved trap shooting and was inducted into the WV Shooting Hall of Fame in 1999.

He is survived by three children, Steve Ripley, IV of Keyser, WV, Carol Ripley of Inwood, and Lisa Ripley of Inwood.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, whom he married on June 9, 1951, Alice M. Ripley; and a daughter, Alice R Ripley.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
