Obituary for Ruth Elizabeth Kisner (McGarry)

Ruth Elizabeth McGarry Kisner of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2022.

Born April 7, 1929 in Old Forge, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas McGarry and Ethel Lackenby McGarry.

She was a graduate of Old Forge High School, in Old Forge, PA and Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton, PA. Obtaining a nursing position at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg after graduating and receiving her RN, this led to her move to WV. She met her life’s love, Lester Allen Kisner and they were married September 4, 1954 at Rosemont Grace Brethren Church. After 53 years of marriage, he preceded her in death October 9, 2007. Ruth was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Payton Reno.

Ruth was a member of Independent Bible Church and The Ladies Auxiliary of the Martinsburg Rescue Mission.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Marcia Rollison and husband Paul, of Wellsboro, PA, and Lois Richmond and her husband, Thomas (Tom) of Middleway; four grandchildren, Shelli Richmond and David Hose (fiancé), Lisa (Richmond) Branson and Alva Branson (Husband), and Virginia and Abigail Rollison; three great grandchildren, Mariah Gladden, Kaylee Hose, and Alivia Branson; and a great great granddaughter, Paislee Reno.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested contributions to the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission or to Independent Bible Church.
