Obituary for Russell Dale "Rooster" Payne

Russell Dale Payne “Rooster”, 43, of Hedgesville passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021.

Born October 30, 1977 in Charleston, WV, he is the only child of Dale Payne of Romney, WV, and Lois White Payne of Mason, WV.

Russell was a graduate of Hedgesville High School class of 1996. He was a hard worker, and excellent truck driver for over 20 years, and a member of Teamsters Local 992. He received the Million Mile award for safe driving. He previously worked for Save-A-Lot Trucking and was presently employed by Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Haley Mae Payne, and Kasey Ann Payne; Fiancé, April Bowers; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ellen Payne and Sidney and Victoria White.

His girls were his life. He loved watching them together in tractor pulls and barrel racing. He loved them with all his heart and wanted the best for them. He was a loving son and a true friend to many. Russell was full of mischief and enjoyed pulling a trick on a person, occasionally, especially his friends. We will miss your laugh and your smile so very much Rooster! Rest easy, until we met again.
