She was born on January 21, 1929 in Hedgesville, WV to the late Nellie Ellen Michael Kesecker and George Hillary Kesecker in the middle of the Great Depression.

Rosetta was predeceased by her husband Earl Raymond Bayer, her sister June Catlett and her brother Victor P. Kesecker.

After graduating from Hedgesville High School, Rosetta was immediately hired as a
secretary/stenographer and worked for the W.V. Dept. of Mental Health where she eventually became the lead secretary. She spent all of her married life in Martinsburg with her husband of 40 years and raised 2 daughters Cheryl and Vickie.

Rosetta was an avid gardener as evidenced by the beautiful flowers always planted in her yard and her many indoor potted plants. What a green thumb she had!

Being fastidious about her own appearance and a fashion plate carried over into raising her daughters. She was a talented seamstress and made many Barbie clothes and clothes for her daughters decorated with embroidery.
Another talent was making elaborate dollhouses from cardboard boxes for her granddaughters.

After retiring, Rosetta was an active member of the local EGO (Enjoy Growing Older) group and thoroughly enjoyed the frequent bus trips and activities with her many friends, traveling to such places as the Bahamas, Bermuda, Quebec, and Branson, Missouri.

Her greatest pride and joys were her 5 grandchildren and her 3 great-grandchildren.

Rosetta’s faith in God was evidenced by her membership and regular attendance at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and the moral character she imparted to her daughters by supporting and guiding them and by being a great confidante.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl Bayer Gavlas and (James) of Hamilton, NJ, Vickie Bayer Fields and (William) of Abingdon, Md, a sister Loette Brichner of Hedgesville, WV, grandchildren Anne-Marie and Sean Gavlas of Hamilton, NJ, Kimberly Gavlas Janowski and Lawrence of Augusta, Georgia, Sarah Hayes and Brian of Downingtown, Pa, and Jessica Fields of Media, Pa and well as three great grandchildren, Harrison Hayes, Spencer Hayes, and River Janowski.
