Obituary for Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Hott

Ronald (“Ronnie”) Lee Hott, 81, of Martinsburg, passed away from life and into the gates of heaven, on May 11, 2022, at Berkeley Medical Center with one of his loving stepdaughters by his side.

Born June 20, 1940, in Kirby, he was the son of the late Guy Leonard Hott and Charlotte Ellie Timbrook Hott.

Ronnie attended Grassy Lick School and went on to graduate from Romney High School in 1958 where he was an avid basketball player. He worked as foreman at Romney Orchards and was also employed by Ashworth Brothers in Winchester, VA as a machine operator. He was a long-time active member of Second Baptist Church in Martinsburg.

Ronnie was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife and loved his 7 stepchildren, 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren and he was equally loved by all of them. He loved to fish and chase the trout truck and enjoyed watching sports with his family. He also lovingly planted and tended to the many flowers and trees his wife would bring home.

He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Mauzy & Debbie Day; his three stepsons, Tom Ross, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, Kevin Ross and wife, LeAnne and David Ross and wife, Marie. Four stepdaughters, Daryl Vaden and husband, Phil, Debra Lucas, Kimberly Kercheval and husband, Michael, and Christi Hicks and husband, Jason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet Lee (Johnson) (Ross) Hott. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard E. Lucas, and several siblings: Stanly Guy Hott, Paul David Hott, Elizabeth Ella Hott, Helen Josephine Saville, Victor Franklin Hott, Juanita Isabella Wells, & Harwell Timbrook Hott.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 21st at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV with Pastor David Irvin officiating. Family will receive friends that morning at 9 a.m. with funeral services following at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Hott’s Chapel Cemetery in Kirby, WV.
