Obituary for Roger Lee Mauck

Roger L. Mauck, 82, son of William P. Mauck and Pearl Virginia Light Mauck went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Margaret Ann Mauck; daughter, Ann Mauck Roberts and son-in-law, Rodney B. Roberts, of Inwood; one brother, Kenneth W. Mauck and wife, Delaine of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Ronnie Talbott and wife, Charlotte of Martinsburg and several nieces and nephews.

He was proud to be an American and to have served in the US Army 1958-1961; was ranked as SP4 ArmyCorp Engineers; received awards of marksman in rifle, expert in carbine drives and mechanics badge with bar, and a good conductmedal; received schooling in Fort Belvior, Virginia. He was sent to Germany where he served making liquid oxygen for the redstone missile, which put our American on the moon. Receiving his schooling at Fort Belvoir, gave him his vocation for the rest of his life as a diesel repairman at Mack Trucks for 37 years.

Roger was a 1957 graduate of Musselman High School where he played football and worked on the school newspaper, “The Cider Press”.

He was a man of Christian faith, loved his church, his family and his country. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for 75 years and served as a choir member for 35 years, served on several committees, member of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School class, and usher.

Roger also served in the Inwood Bunker Hill Lions Club, where he held the President office 1974-1975. During this time, he had the honor to have Joe Theisman, then Washington quarterback, as the main speaker for the Musselman High School Alumni banquet, assisted other club members with the creation and completion of the Giles Walking Trail and assisted with the flower sale projects at Easter and Mother’s Day.

Roger was a member of the Redmen Tribe #84 in Williamsport, MD and the American Legion Post # 042 in Hagerstown, MD.

Graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Rosedale cemetery with Pastor Mike Cantley officiating.

Friends and family may attend and will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 700 New York Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25401 or to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Ln., Kearneysville, WV 25430.
