Obituary for Patrick Noble Whitacre

Patrick Noble Whitacre, 92, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Monday April 3, 2023.

Born May 8, 1930 in Gainesboro, VA, he was the son of the late Noble D. Whitacre and Rowena C. Braithwaite Whitacre.

He was a 1948 graduate of Martinsburg High School and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

From 1955 to 1975, he was the owner and operator of Whitacre Furniture Company. Later in life, he was a real estate developer as well as the owner and operator of Whitacre's Mobile Home Court.

He was a member of Arden United Methodist Church, the Loyal Order of Moose #120, the American Legion Potomac Post #202, the Equality Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by his one son, James P. Whitacre of Pikeside (Sherry); three daughters, Cynthia W. Bonfili (Greg) and Deborah W. Smeltzer (Ted), both of Vanville, and Patricia W. Snyder (Jonathan) of Vanville; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews near and far.

He was preceded in death by his wife Teresa O. Whitacre; and two sisters, June W. Folk (Dan) and Katy E. Frye (G. Edward).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday April 17, 2023, at South Berkeley Chapel with Pastor Tim Butler officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday April 17, 2023 at the chapel. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
