Obituary for Patricia JoAnne Cruz (Dillow)
Patricia JoAnne Cruz, 81, of Inwood, beloved Mom and MeeMaw, left this earthly realm peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021, surrounded by those who mattered most.
Born on November 6, 1939 in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late Charles Washington ("Wash") Dillow and the late Bertie Mae (Penwell) Dillow.
She was preceded in death by her life partner of 32 years, James M. ("PeeWag") Darlington, Sr.
She is survived by four daughters, Robin White (Joe) of Charles Town, Joy Grey (Jason) of Harpers Ferry, Trish Arana (Abel) of Martinsburg, and Kelli Little (Dave) of Inwood; eight grandchildren, Brandon Rickard (Vanessa), Amber Nesselrodt (Josh), Marlaena Cruz Meadows (Mark), Sarah Muskett (Jason), Michael Little (Angelina), Maya Arana, Blake Grey, and Kellin Little, as well as eight great grandchildren.
JoAnne loved music, dancing, peppermint patties, and crab cakes. She absolutely reveled in any and all time she got to spend with her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Maya (a.k.a. "Homie"), during the last weeks of her life. We are comforted by the fact that she was completely enveloped in love throughout her final days, just as she wanted.
The family wishes that no flowers to be ordered. Memorial contributions may be made to The Martinsburg Rescue Mission or Jefferson County Community Ministries.
A private celebration of her life with family will be planned at a later date.
