Obituary for Melvin Earl Cole Jr.

Melvin Earl Cole, Jr. (Tim), 75, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Born December 2, 1946 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Melvin E. Cole and Pauline Hopkins Cole.

He was a 1964 graduate of Martinsburg High School. He served in the Army Reserve and retired from Corning Glass Works/World Kitchen after a distinguished career in the machine shop. ‘Mel’, as he was known to most, was an active member of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church where he particularly enjoyed the fellowship of his men’s prayer meeting group and Sunday School class. He was a much-loved, kind-hearted, generous man who, in his younger years, enjoyed softball and golf and, throughout his life, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, of which he had many.

He is survived by his son, Melvin Earl Cole, III (Trey) and wife Tamara Cole; his daughter, Tracey Cole; two grandchildren, Kayleb Christian and James Clem; and a brother, Bruce Wayne Cole.

He was preceded in death by a special and dear friend, Faye Gregory; two brothers, David Cole and Roger D. Cole; and two sisters, Stella Louise Siler and Margaret B. Peyton.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church in Martinsburg, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Maranatha Memorial Gardens on the grounds of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church.
