Mary Margaret Gabriel Meyer, 76, of Martinsburg, passed away on February 22, 2021 at Countryside Assisted Living. Mary was born on January 13, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Monroe Gabriel and Esther Naomi Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Meyer.
A retired elementary school teacher, Mary loved teaching and learning. After graduating from Hiram College, she touched the lives of many students, teaching most recently at Forestville Elementary School in Great Falls, Virginia. An avid reader, Mary was also creatively talented, and she enjoyed playing the piano and writing poetry. She also loved baking and was well known by her friends and loved ones for the delicious treats she so often prepared and shared. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to pack her bag for a weekend trip for a football game, concert, or other event. She loved children, animals, and chocolate. Mary rarely met a stranger and brought joy to all those around her.
She is survived by a sister, Nancy Felty, of Cleveland; one daughter, Sheryl Cabellos (Jean), of Ashburn, Virginia; one son, Mark Meyer (Samantha), of Martinsburg, five grandchildren, Patrick Cabellos, Alyssa Fox (Thomas), Megan, Hallie, and William Meyer, and two great-grandsons, Cameron and Maxwell Cabellos.
