Obituary for Mary Jane Gesford (Coates)
Mary Jane (Coates) Gesford, 82, of Falling Waters, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born December 23, 1938 in Martinsburg she was the daughter of the late Samuel Cliffton Coates and Goldie (Turner) Coates.
Mary was a two-time survivor of cancer. She was a 1956 graduate of Martinsburg High School. She retired from Kings Daughter Court City Hospital after 37 years. She was a member of Hedgesville Bible Baptist Church, Ladies Auxiliary at church, and attended her grandchildren’s sport activities.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Leon Gesford; a son, Richard Gesford; two daughters, Pam Daniels, and Brookie Gesford and spouse, Anita Jordan; two grandchildren, Jessica Pike and husband, Mike, and Joshua Daniels; great grandchildren, Austin, and Dennis Pike, Vinny, and Rocco Santore, and their mother, Robbi; a sister, Ruth Kackley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne, Jerry, Charles (Dopey), and Mike Coates.
The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 and Friday, January 8th, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Rudy officiating.
