Obituary for Mary Belle Starliper (Locke)
Mary Belle Locke Starliper, 84 of Leetown, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the Reston Hospital Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 10, 1936 in Leetown she was the daughter of the late James Strider Locke and Ruth Judson Blue Locke.
Mary Belle was a lifelong member of the Leetown United Methodist Church. She graduated from Charles Town High School, class of 1954, earned her BA in Musical Education from Shepherd College, class of 1958. She taught in the Jefferson County School system for 30 years, second and third grade at Summit Point Elementary and fourth grade at North Jefferson. She served as the organist and choir director at her beloved church for over sixty years.
Mary Belle was survived by son, Clifford E. Starliper, Jr. and wife Peggy of Leetown and daughter, Lydia S. Vickers and husband John of Kearneysville, Brother, James Henry Locke of Shepherdstown, sister, Juanita Collis, grandchildren, Matthew John and Catherine Belle Vickers, nephew, Jim Locke, niece, Martha Sager and numerous cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Eugene Starliper.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
