Mark Duane Orr, 62, lifelong resident of Martinsburg, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, October 27th at Berkeley Medical Center. He was born January 27, 1958 in Martinsburg, the son of the late George S. Orr, Jr. and Juanita A. Bennett Orr. He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1976. On June 11, 1977, he married his high school sweetheart Melissa (Knipe) Orr, celebrating 43 years of marriage in June.
Mark was a well known orchardist and 2nd generation owner of George S. Orr & Sons, Inc. and Orr's Farm Market. He leaves a legacy of agriculture, integrity, and community development. He was recently awarded the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Master Farmer Award. He was known for his sense of humor, love of animals, and he never knew a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, George Silvers Orr III. Surviving in addition to his wife, Melissa (Knipe) Orr, are his daughters, Katy Orr-Dove and her husband, Don, of Martinsburg; daughter, Rachel Stacey and her husband, Jason, of Martinsburg; daughter Olivia Orr, of Martinsburg; and son Eric Spindle, of Martinsburg. He leaves four grandchildren; Ava Snowden, Marlo Dove, Wyatt Dove, and Claire Stacey; two brothers, Michael Orr and his wife, Vicki, and G.W. Orr and his wife, Brenda, both of Martinsburg; many nieces and nephews. He's also survived by two ancient and loving chihuahuas.
The Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood will be open to receive visitors only from the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 1st at 3 p.m.
