Obituary for Linda Lou Johnson (Butler)

Linda Lou (Butler) Johnson, 70, a lifelong resident of Martinsburg, left us on April 7th, 2022, at City Hospital.

She was born February 27th, 1952, in Martinsburg to the late Charles David (Curry) Butler and Helen Catherine Canby.

On January 17, 1970, in Martinsburg, WV, she married Gerald “JJ” Lynn Johnson. Together they had three children that survive: Tiffany Lynn Johnson of Martinsburg, Belinda Denise McCain and husband Jade McCain, and Dr. Todd Arron Cimino-Johnson and his husband Anthony J. Cimino-Johnson of Leesburg, VA. Gerald passed away on May 14th, 1994, at home.

Her other siblings preceding her in death are Douglas T. Butler (1989), his surviving wife Peggy Butler-Mason, and Barbara A. Roach (2014).

She is survived by one sister, Joan E. Mutu of Canton, Ohio, and the late Nicholas Mutu (2017). Linda is also survived by her grandchildren, Amber Penwell, Derick McCain, Cassandra Hensler, Kaitlin Penwell, and great-grandchildren Aiden McCain, Karleigh Corbin, Natalie Otey, Ava Otey, and Mackenzie Watson. Linda also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, distant relatives and close friends.

Linda’s passion was for drawing, her love of Elvis Presley, and her passion for animals. She never met an animal she did not want to engage. She had many dogs and cats throughout her life and especially loved horses.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Martinsburg Church of Christ, 9512 Tuscarora Pike, Martinsburg, WV 25403, with Pastor Chris Butler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkeley County Humane Society, 554 Charles Town Rd., Martinsburg, WV 25405.
