Obituary for Leatha Louise Collins (Dellinger)

Leatha Louise Collins, 89, of Inwood (formerly of Martinsburg) passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 surrounded by family at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville.

Born June 13, 1932 an only child to the late Oscar and Hester Dellinger.

She was a 1950 graduate of the first graduating class of Musselman High School. She was employed by the A&P.

She married Douglas L. Collins on July 20, 1969 and became a stay at home mother and raised four daughters. He preceded her in death in February 2011. She was also proceeded in death by her daughter Carol Barker in September 2021.

She is survived by her children Janet Russell (Frank) of Inwood with whom she resided, Elaine Hoffman (Spencer) of Martinsburg, Sherry Collins (Floyd Strickland), Sharon Minghini (Jim) both of South Carolina; grandchildren Carol J. (CJ) Brown, Greg Stickell (Aleshia Gooch), Chad Hines (Stephanie Martin), Brandi Hines (David Doleman), Scarlett Kincaid all of Martinsburg, Jennifer Swisher (Scott) of Clear Brook VA, Christopher Russell (Amy) of North Carolina, and Bonus granddaughter and caregiver Angie Rogers, an angel sent to her from heaven three years ago; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister-in-law Donna Link (Sam) of Winchester, VA.

She was a life-long member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was director of the Bible School Program for several years, and served on multiple committees.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the emergency and ICU departments at the Berkeley Medical Center for the wonderful care she received and the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility for the compassionate care she received and the kindness we, as her family, received.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 11:00AM at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
