Obituary for Larry Edward "George" Marpole

Larry “George” Edward Marpole, 81, of Inwood, WV passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home.

Born June 3, 1939 in Berkeley County, WV he was the son of the late William “Willie” Marpole and Leota Slonaker Marpole.

He was retired from Capitol Cement; and enjoyed farming, and loved raccoon hunting.

He is survived his wife of 62 years, Audrey Swartz Marpole; two daughters, Regina “Jeannie” Hess and husband, Bucky, and Lorrie Mason and husband, Bill; two grandchildren, Travis Hess and wife, Lauren, and Jordan Mason; two sisters, Polly Foster and Ruth Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Spencer Marpole and Lyle Marpole; and four sisters, Rev. Louise Barrett, Wilda Newbraugh, Patsy Hess, and Eleanor Masters Self.

The Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood will be open to receive friends and family only from the hours of 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Sunday, January 31, 2021 followed by a funeral service at 2:00PM with Pastor Daniel Hess officiating, assisted by Pastor Richard Sherrard.

Interment will be in Gerrardstown Cemetery.

Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care nurses, respiratory therapists, special niece, and Hospice for the efforts to bring our loved one home.
