Obituary for Kenneth Stuart Collis

Kenneth Stuart Collis, 101, of Inwood, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born on May 15, 1921, in Berkeley County, WV, he was the son of the late John E. and Esther Collis.

He was a seventy-year member of Bunker Hill Methodist Church. He retired from Corning Glass and was a fifty-eight-year member and past president of Inwood-Bunker Hill Lions Club, U.T.C., and seventy-year member of the Back Creek Valley Jr. Order.

Kenneth was a U S Army, World War II, Veteran, having served in the 329th Infantry, regiment, 83rd Division. He was a Bronze Star recipient and fought in The Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth S. Collis, Jr. (Teresa) and Michael Collis (Darcia); and one daughter, Vicki Shell, grandchildren, Joseph Collis, Sarah Perez, Chris Triggs, Matt Triggs, Amy Fream, Travis Collis, and Ashley Keeney; brother Glenville Collis; and sister, Patsy Gageby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Catherine Collins Collis; brothers, Melvin, Leonard, Vincent, and John Collis; sisters, Carolyn Dunham, Geraldine Marshall, Frances Parsons; and one son-in-law, Doug Shell.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Katy Mossburg officiating.

Family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Interment with military graveside honors will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
