Obituary for Joan Marie Root (Furley)
Joan Marie Furley Root, 75, of Martinsburg, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at her residence under the care of Hospice.
Born November 28, 1947 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy Kenneth Furley and Mary Marie Hicks Furley.
She is survived by her son, Vincent Joseph Root, Jr. (Lori); two daughters, Bonnie Root (Terrance Arnold), and Dawn Cobern (James), six grandchildren, Talli McDaniel, Alexis Clark, Royce Fatkin, Crystal Harden, Kamryn Root and Coltin Root-Green; eight great-grandchildren, Nieelah McDowell, Carleigha Winfrey, Ro’Neko Jackson, Nolan Root; Thomas Harden, Rosalee Harden, Liam Fatkin and Ronnie Fatkin; one brother, William Furley; and one sister, Brenda K. Jones (James).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Joseph Root, Sr.; one granddaughter, Staci Root-Trenary; and two sisters, Joyce Priller and Judith White.
We never said good bye to you, instead we said “we love you”….
As you departed on your journey to a place where life is new
We held your hand
And we kissed you,
Your leaving made us cry.
But in the end,
We know we will see you again…
So, this is not a good bye.
At her request, services and interment will be private.
