Jeffrey James Smoot, 37 of Charles Town passed away suddenly on Monday, July 25, 2022.

Born January 19, 1985 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, he was the son of Sylvia Virginia Smoot of Charles Town.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents Gilbert Thomas Warnick, Sr. and Frances Mae Davis Warnick, grandfather Fred Gaddy and father, Jeff Gaddy.

In addition to his mother he is survived by four sons, Cameron, Tyler, Hunter and Asher; two brothers, Robert Johnson of Charles Town and Paul Gaddy of Martinsburg; sister, Gabrielle Wilson and husband Donovan of Charles Town. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, James and Mary Smoot, Frances Shreves, all of Charles Town; Carol Gaddy, Virginia; aunts, Rosa Brown of Charles Town and Dr. Jaime Smoot-Speed of Georgia and Debbie Warnick Crites and husband Mel of Cumberland, Maryland; many great aunts and uncles and cousins.

Jeffrey was always the boy with the widest eyes and slyest grin. He was a creative soul and a talented artist who loved to draw. His artistic talent eventually led him to pursue tattoo artistry. Jeffrey also loved music and listened to his favorite musicians daily. Creative souls are often the ones who experience pain differently, deeper. Jeffery was and will continue to be loved by his family and friends and missed dearly. We believe he is free from the darkness and torment he knew here on earth.

As your mother, I completely loved you from the first time I saw you. A mother’s love is unwavering through any struggle, whether it be mental health issues or addictions. It is heartbreaking on a daily basis to watch your child succumb to their demons continuously. My hope is for no other mother to have to experience this kind of pain. I urge you to never give up hope, as long as your child is still breathing there is hope of recovery. I will love my son forever and pray he is now at peace.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
