Obituary for James Joseph "Joe" Mann
James Joseph “Joe” Mann, 75, of Martinsburg passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023 at his residence.
Born November 20, 1947 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Benjamin C. Mann and Selena Lee Knighten Mann.
Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 as a Specialist E4. He retired from Eastalco Aluminum Company after 30 years of service.
Joe is also survived by three grandchildren who were the light of his life, Haley R. Laing, Marc Laing, Deziree Laing.
Joe was lovingly known as ‘Papa Joe” by his kids, he enjoyed spending time together while taking road trips to the beach.
Joe is survived by his cherished companion of 27 years, Louise Laing; her sons, Matthew Laing and Douglas Laing, who considered Joe their father and were so helpful to him in many ways. He is also survived by one sister, Diane VanMater.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard “Sonny” Mann, and Benjamin “Benny” Mann; and one sister, Juanita Mann-Jacob.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 36 Laing Drive, Martinsburg, WV 25404, with pastor Chuck Donivan and Reverend Tom Snyder officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
