Obituary for James Emerson VanMetre
James Emerson VanMetre, 85, of Martinsburg passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born March 14, 1935 in Martinsburg he was the son of the late Owens VanMetre and Lottie Raigner VanMetre.
He is survived by his wife, Leona L. Houck VanMetre; five sons, Jimmy, Terry, John, Steve, and David VanMetre; two daughters, Betty Short, and Virginia Unger; 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lovetta Catherine Woodring; and three siblings, Roger VanMetre, Clara Bloyer, and Shirley VanMetre.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
