Jackson Hart Reed, 86, of Martinsburg went home to be with his Lord and his wife on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the VA Medical Center.
Born September 8, 1934 in Clear Spring, MD, he was the son of the late Ernest Jeremiah Reed and Kathryn Hart Reed.
He was a veteran of the US Army, and served in the National Guard for twenty-eight years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a coach with the Berkeley County Little League and the Jefferson High School JV team.
He is survived by two sons, B. Craig Reed of Exmore, VA, Jeremy Reed (Ashley Nichole) of Hedgesville; one daughter, Teri Ruppenthal of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, Conner, Adrian, Alden, and Paul; and one sister, Leona Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn K. Reed; one brother, Angus Reed; and two sisters, Carolyn Metcalf and Betty Meyers.
The Brown Funeral Home will only be open for family to receive friends and family from the hours of 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 1:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Metcalf officiating. Interment will be in Hedgesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors.
