Obituary for Irvin Truman Shultz
Irvin Truman Shultz, age 91, peacefully departed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on December 20th, 2020.
He was born on August 23rd, 1929 in Ganotown, WV, to the late Carl Pitkins Shultz and Margery P. (VanHorn) Shultz. He graduated from Hedgesville High School, Class of 1948. He was a member of the United States Army serving as a medic in Korea. He married his sweetheart, Janet Mae Ashton, on February 19th, 1954. He graduated from Shepherd College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. He served as principal for both Tomahawk Elementary and Bunker Hill Elementary Schools. A strong encourager of education, he earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from West Virginia University and a Master of Arts in Theology. He attended Central Chapel where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Through a musical cantata, he answered the Lord’s call to pursue full-time ministry. He dedicated his life to serving God for 35 years as a pastor for numerous churches including Fountain, Antiouch, Mt. Zion, Rohrersville, Blue Rock, Living Waters and continued to serve as opportunities arose. He was an avid gardener since the age of 9. He also enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and caring for his dogs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and his family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John W. Shultz; and six sisters, Margaret Mason, Ines Chaney, Alberta Koontz, Lucille Scharf, and Ruth and Anna Shultz, who both passed away during infancy.
Irvin leaves wonderful memories that will be cherished by his wife, Janet Mae Ashton Shultz; his four children, Randy C. Shultz and wife Judy; Janice M. Frye and husband Jon; Ronnie W. Shultz and wife Shirley; Judy A. Collis and husband Joe; his eight grandchildren, Stacy Shultz-Rudy and husband Dave; Jamie Kovaleski and husband John; Zachary Collis and wife Jessica; Kara Carr and husband Eli; Jodi Stollings and husband Casey; Julianne Roberts and husband Bradley; Erin Shultz and Dr. Carl Shultz; and his eleven great grandchildren, Emily Rudy, Hailey Rudy, Gregory Dae Steiner, Ella Collis, Leeland Stollings, Brady Collis, Grayson Stollings, Micah Carr, Blair Roberts, Charlotte Roberts, Ana Carr.
