Obituary for Iris Frances Hull (McMillian)
Iris Frances Hull, 96, of Falling Waters, WV passed into the hands of her Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Doey’s House Hospice of Washington County.
Born August 3, 1925 in Marlowe, WV, she was the daughter and only child of Levi Calvin McMillan and Gineva Alberta Kershner McMillan.
Iris graduated from Martinsburg High School and attended Shenandoah Music Conservatory in Dayton, Virginia. As a lifelong member of Harmony United Methodist Church, Iris served the church by playing piano and organ and also by directing the choirs for more than 50 years. Also at the Church she led Bible School classes and was a regular Sunday School attendee.
Iris worked for the postal service in Falling Waters, and was an active crafter, seamstress and gardener. She loved taking care of the animals who lived in her yard and trees.
Iris was married to Carl William (Bill) Hull who preceded her in death. Just months before his passing, Iris and Bill were able to celebrate their 70TH wedding anniversary together with family and friends.
Iris is survived by her daughter, Vicki Young and husband Tim, grandson Richard Shockey and wife Rachel, and two great grandchildren, Joshua Shockey and Savannah Shockey. Also surviving Iris are three nieces, Lexy Avey, Carrie Bowers and husband Mike, and Amy Stilwell. Also surviving are two nephews, Tim Stilwell and wife Pam and Roger Hull and wife Pam. A heartfelt remembrance for Iris’ “Boys” across the street at Special Moments Florist and Gifts, Jim Pine, Kevin Obitts and Ricky Vazquez.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Saturday April 30th at 2:00 PM at Harmony United Methodist Church in Marlowe with Pastor Jeff Zalatoris officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment at Harmony Cemetery will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the ministries of Harmony United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1510, Falling Waters, WV 25419.
